Frequently Asked Questions
Will I have phone service / internet access?
Internet
WiFi will be available across accommodation in in urban parts of Australia. Some properties may charge a fee for usage.
While camping, most sites will have little to no internet access as they are in remote areas.
Phone service
Australia's main telecommunication networks operate across towns in the Northern Territory. Different networks will work across different spots in the Outback and regional areas. If you're planning to stay longer in Australia, it's a good idea to purchase a local SIM card to make use of data in no WiFi zones.
Tour guides will be equipped with satellite phones for emergencies only.
Please be prepared for up to 3 - 4 days at a time with no internet or phone service.
Who prepares the meals each day?
On most days, breakfast, lunch and dinner will be included.
Your tour guide will prepare most of the meals on tour, but you will have the opportunity to assist with daily tasks such as setting up camp, helping prepare meals and clearing dishes.
None of this is difficult but, as the saying goes, 'many hands make light work' and any assistance provided to crew is always much appreciated.
Will I be able to charge my devices on this trip?
Most Adventure Tours Australia trips do provide access to power where guests can recharge batteries for phones and cameras every few days.
However, it is recommended that you bring an extra battery to charge your devices with just in case.
Your vehicle will also be equipped with a 12 volt "cigarette lighter" socket which may be used at the crew's discretion - but bear in mind that only one device can be charged at a time and it will not be llowed if there's a risk of running the vehicle's batteries low.
Some campsites will offer electricity, so charging batteries is advised in these instances.
Is it safe to bring valuables along on this tour?
Please do not bring along unnecessary valuables on this tour, as there is a chance you could lose them during the adventure.
It is recommended that guests photocopy any important documents they need to bring along (such as air tickets, passports, vaccine certificates, etc.), and keep the copies separate from the originals.
Is there a luggage limit?
Please keep your luggage to a minimum.
Guests on this tour may carry a maximum of 10kg, made up of one small soft-sided bag plus a day bag. Please do not bring hard/externally framed suitcases, as they are difficult to store and can damage equipment and other travellers' belongings.
As this tour begins and ends in the same place, we recommend organising the storage of your excess luggage in your arrival/departure hotel.
Can you cater to my dietary requirements?
It is essential that any guests with special dietary requirements or allergies report this information to their travel agent when booking.
Food for the trip is purchased before the tour begins and special requirements cannot be catered for after departing.
Due to the nature of this tour, the food is basic but plentiful.
The following substitutes can be made upon request:
- No pork (ham alternative provided)
- No dairy (soy milk provided)
- Vegetarian (additional veg and veggie burgers provided)
- Vegan (additional fruit and veg provided)
- Gluten free (cereal, bread, pasta, snack bars, sweet and savoury biscuits provided)
If these substitutes do not suit your requirements, please bring your food staples along with you.
Policies
Important Information
- The minimum age is 4 years old.
- This trip requires a moderate level of fitness as there are a variety of walking trails. Guests should be prepared to hike 5-9kms per day.
- Please notify us upon booking if there are any dietary requirements. Food is prepared in advance and special diets cannot be catered for unless you tell us in advance.
- Itineraries may change due to weather, local conditions, transport schedules, public holidays, or other factors outside of our control.
- This trip requires a sleeping bag.
- There is a strict luggage limit of 10kg. Excess luggage can be stored at Darwin accommodation.
Cancellations
All cancellations forfeit 25% of the recommended retail price (RRP) - not the discounted/sale price. No shows or client cancellations made within 60 days of departure forfeit 100% of the total ticket price.
A refund in the event of cancellation is subject to both our Cancellation Policy and the terms of the supplier.
