You’ll want to check the weather right before your tour for more accurate weather conditions, but the Top End has a desert climate. That means hot days with strong sun, so packing enough water and sun protection is vital! During the evenings the temperatures are mild and you may want a light jacket.

What fitness level is required for this tour?

This trip requires a moderate level of fitness as there are a few walking trails involved. Each trail varies in length and difficulty, but walking times range from 1 to 3.5 hours per day. Please bring sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and comfortable clothing.

What is the accommodation like?

You’ll be sleeping at Outback campgrounds with basic shared facilities. It’s important to bring a sleeping bag or hire one before the trip! You’ll also need to pitch in with preparing meals and cleaning, as it is a communal effort on this tour!

The minimum age is 12 years.

Are hotel pick-ups in Darwin offered?

Yes, but you will need to contact us with your preferred pick up point at least one week before departure. Otherwise, the default pick-up location is the Cavenagh Motel at 6:30am (12 Cavenagh St).

Can my dietary requirements be catered for?

Yes, diets such as vegan, vegetarian, or gluten-free can be catered for. Passengers with special meal requirements or food allergies MUST ensure they or their travel agent inform ATA of this when booking. Food for the trip is purchased in advance and special requirements cannot be catered for after departing.

What type of clothes should we pack for the Top End?

Lightweight, active clothing is ideal for the Top End. Bring a mixture of layers, as the temperatures can be hot but long pants and shirts can protect against the sun. You may want some warm clothes for the nighttime as well.
