Next, we’ll discover the UNESCO World Heritage Area of Port Arthur Historic Site. Here we’ll walk amongst the vast grounds of this open-air museum, take a boat cruise to Isle of the Dead and learn about Australia’s best-preserved convict settlement, before returning to Hobart this evening.

Day 2 - Freycinet National Park, Wineglass Bay & Bicheno

Today’s highlight is Tassie’s East Coast jewel, Freycinet National Park. As you venture north along the Great Eastern Drive, stop in at Honeymoon Bay, where pink granite peaks of the Hazards mountains grace the vistas. Then, choose between a challenging walk to the summit of Mount Amos for incredible views across the park, or take it easy and check out the Lookout for lovely views of the iconic, white-sands of Wineglass Bay. Stop in at Cape Tourville, where you'll enjoy stunning scenery across Freycinet and the Tasman Sea. Tonight, rest your travelling bones in the charming, coastal town of Bicheno, where little penguins live in the coastal ecosystems and come out at night!

Overnight: Bicheno

White sands and blue waters of Wineglass Bay

Day 3 - Bay Of Fires, St Helen’s & Launceston

Wake up with your sights set on the beautiful Bay of Fires/larapuna. This quiet and pristine destination holds great significance for Tasmanian aboriginal palawa people. Explore the coastline with its bright white sands, vibrant orange boulders, and crystal-clear waters; you’re sure to experience landscapes unlike anything you’ve ever seen before! After a lunch stop in St Helens, an utterly charming coastal town, venture inland to witness the giant tree ferns at St Columba Falls. Stay tonight in one of Australia’s oldest cities and hub for northern Tasmania, Launceston.

Overnight: Launceston

Day 4 - Cradle Mountain Hiking

A breathtaking mountain adventure awaits Day 4 as you get ready to explore World Heritage-listed Cradle Mountain National Park. With mountain, rainforest and alpine landscapes sprawling over vast peaks and valleys, Cradle Mountain is a nature-lover’s bucket list dream. Take your pick between a challenging trek to Marion’s Lookout or a more relaxed loop around Dove Lake, carved by glaciers. Keep an eye out for wombats at Ronny Creek, known to mosey around the area! Afterward, make the journey back to Launceston via the charming Town of Murals, Sheffield.

Overnight: Launceston

Day 5 - Cataract Gorge, Tassie Devils, Ross & Richmond

Experience the scenic beauty of Cataract Gorge, a natural wonderland just a stone's throw from downtown Launceston. Take a leisurely stroll, noticing wicked geological marvels, suspension bridges and wallabies on the banks. Then venture south along the scenic midlands heritage highway, taking the time for a stop at the historic town of Ross, before rubbing shoulders with Tasmanian devils at Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary. Add one more stop to your jam-packed day as you return to Hobart via Richmond, a charming, colonial town that looks as if it’s straight out of a fairytale! Your trip ends in Hobart, from where you can make your own onward travel plans.
